We do not handle schizophrenia, psychoses, or other major mental illnesses but refer out to Christian professionals that can help.
Along with our individual counseling, we offer healing retreats and seminars for Christian groups, Christian schools or businesses and churches in many subject areas. You can call to set up a seminar or pull up our schedule or call for a current listing of places, dates, and times.
We also have a Wednesday night program for pastors called "Ask the Counselor," where a counselor will come and teach a basic 30 minute teaching on how to reach out to those struggling in the church with certain topics: a question and answer time for the people to get professional answers to their needs from a spiritual basis.
A Resource File of Christian professionals is available for those needing more help in mental or emotional areas or just resources for helping the needy.
Our Goal is to help Start a New Beginning in Your Life! Call Today: (770) 831-1799.
COUNSELORS:
Our counselors have at least Master Level Degrees and some are pursuing their PhD in Counseling. All have formal education in Clinical counseling/Psychology or Christian Counseling. Each of our counselor have speciality areas with varied experience levels and education. We currently have 5 paid counselors on staff with 2 free (volunteer) counselors. Click our Staff link for more information on all of our counselors.
FEES:
We work with local area churches and other agencies, to provide quality Christian Counseling at a reasonable fee. Our normal fee is $55.00 per 1 hour session. We accept check, cash or credit card. We also offer a sliding-scale option. Please call our office to be included on the list for Reduced Services or to Schedule an Appointment with a Free counselor. You can call our office for more details or to discuss these options with a counselor. Free or reduced services may change or limit your choice of counselors.
INSURANCE:
Due to delays in payments, we do not normally accept insurance. However, we can provide the necessary receipts or invoices with the CPT codes for your insurance company. Some companies have paid our counselors and some will only pay for an LPC. Insurance comes more paying the client sometimes than they do pay the office or at least using it as a copay or deductible. If you desire insurance to pay for your sessions, we can refer you to quality professionals who do take insurance only.
OFFICE HOURS:
Receptionist hours are normally Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm to schedule appointments.
Counselors hours vary but they may not answer the phones while they are in session. However, voice mail is available and checked daily.
COUNSELING SESSIONS:
We offer morning, afternoon, and evening appointments 10 AM-9PM DAILY MONDAY through THURSDAY.
Some counselors are here on FRIDAYS.
SATURDAY appointments are available if scheduled in advance. No SUNDAY appointments are available except in case of crisis or emergency.
All sessions are confidential and our files are kept locked. We do abide by the HIPPA guidelines for disclosure of private information. Should you have any questions, you can direct them to Marcia McWhorter, our Director.
RESOURCES:
We keep a wealth of Christian resources available for those who may need other services or assistance, including Rehab programs for Drug Abuse, Eating Disorder Groups, or Teen Home Programs. We are listed on the Gwinnett Helpline and the United Way 211 Helpline. We have an ON-SITE FOOD PANTRY and a CLOTHING BIN to assist those in need. For those who may need jobs, food, clothing, bills paid or other resources, please come in to get started and connected to our files/database. This is a great place to volunteer for those who want to use their gifts to help others.
PHONE COUNSELING:
This option is great for those that live outside the area or lack transporation. Email or call us with your mailing address to receive our phone counseling package which includes the confidential, privacy agreement, which must be signed by both client and counselor to maintain the client-counselor privileges. Phone sessions vary from one hour or more at your convenience. Our phone counseling fees for local calls are $30.00 per hour plus any long distance charges.
E-MAIL ADVISOR:
Do you have a burning spiritual question that you need answered? We will answer your questions with scripture and spiritual insight to help you in your walk with Christ. Many people struggle and are tired of the secular worldly answers to issues, so be assured that you will receive scriptures as well as Godly principles for your development.
Maybe you need a second opinion! Our spiritual needs are just as important as our physical needs. When we are unsure of our doctor's course of treatment or diagnosis, we get a second opinion. We also need Christian advice and because each human gift in God's body of believers may have different insights, we may need to get a second opinion as confirmation. Our counselors and ministers are standing ready for you to email a question. Do you desire a Christian psychiatrist to provide needed medications or help with your struggles, call our office for help. We answer these emails only once a week, so please give us the proper time to respond to you.
THE N B C C VISION: A Restoration Center
We are dedicated to assist people into a process of wholeness. We believe that man is a tripartite being, Spirit, Soul, and Body (1 Thess. 5:23), and that God intended for his people to function from a place of wholeness.
People are usually able to handle life's problems alone, however, there are times in our lives when we may need to share our struggles with someone else to get a fresh insight or to help resolve a crisis. "Peace of Mind does not come from the absence of problems or difficulties, but the ability to cope with them." Our purpose is to provide loving, caring, assistance to help people resolve life's problems.
New Beginnings Counseling Center exists to provide counseling from a Christian perspective for those who want it. Many secular or clinical counselors do not address spiritual issues that may be of concern to Christians or their churches. In fact, certain secular counselors may try to lead their clients away from Biblical values, thus causing greater struggles in their clients. If people still want to come but are not religious, then we approach them with what is healthy and functional for changes that will equip the client to be their best and move toward their potential. You can refer family members even though they may not be Christian in doctrine or lifestyle.
For the Christian, we are interdenominational in slant and scriptural in doctrine. We work with people to bring the reality and power of Jesus Christ and his Word into the counseling arena. We work with local pastors rather than against them and do not proselyte people into our individual home churches. We work with people where they stand in doctrine and are not dogmatic or pushy, desiring to see the body of Christ grow and develop.
Your calls, letters or emails are private and confidential. Any paperwork, handouts, or books can be mailed to you. If desired you can also schedule a face to face session at one of our centers.
